PreCanPower Coaches

All of our PreCanPower coaches have extensive experience teaching proper skating mechanics, energy efficiency and acceleration to hockey and ringette players of all ages and at all levels – from Hockey Canada’s Initiation Program (IP), house league, A/AA/AAA and up to the OHL.

What makes a PreCanPower coach different?
Hockey coaches dedicate their practice time to team play and tactics, and individual skating skills are often left to each player to work on independently. Strong skating skills are a big differentiator for hockey players, especially at younger levels.
Our PreCanPower coaches are very focused on proper technique and will devote time to the details of skating, to develop players’ agility, acceleration, and endurance. Areas of focus include: balance, stride, acceleration techniques, strong and controlled edges, quick turns, crisp stops and powerful starts, plus proper cross-over technique. With their attention to detail, it’s not uncommon to see our PreCanPower coaches on the ice, helping our skaters find the proper foot position or blade placement.

NOTE: Our PreCanPower-certified coaches may also be available to work one-on-one, with smaller groups, or with teams. If you are interested in booking one of our professional power skating coaches, please contact info@smfsc.ca. (Individual coaches set coaching rates; ice time is not included – participants arrange/provide the ice time.)
