COVID-19 Information

Our skating programs have been placed on pause beginning October 14th.  We are working on revamping our fall schedule to accommodate the Stage 2 modified Health Measures introducted by the Government of Ontario on October 10th.  This new schedule will include ice sessions for Adults, CanPowerSkate and Starskate, unfortunately we have made a decision to cancel our Fall 2020 Canskate program but hope to offer Canskate in January.  We hope to begin skating on Monday November 2nd with a new schedule and as soon  as our meetings are complete and the schedule is set, we will post information online and send an email to our members.  Thank you to all of our members for your understanding and patience.

Please read the information below regarding the protocols that are in place for skating this fall/winter season at SMSC.

CanSkate - CANCELLED FOR FALL 2020

Due to the physical distancing measures, all Canskate participants must be able to skate on their own as well as get up on their own after a fall and on and off the ice without assistance.  These restrictions mean that we are unable to offer lessons in the fall to skaters who are not already in Stage 2 of our program.  Skate Ontario/Canada has implemented a “hands off” approach to coaching for Canskate this fall, so skaters must be able to skate without help.  We will of course continue to teach them to skate but with verbal cues rather than hands on cues.  Please note that skaters will only be able to register on certain sessions depending on their current stage level (check your skater’s profile on our website).  The Monday session is for Stage 2 & 3 skaters, Wednesday is for Stage 3,4 & 5 skaters and Saturday is for Stage 2 & 3 skaters.
