Adult Skate at SMSC

Adult Learn to Skate Class is designed for beginners 16 years old and higher.
When you sign up you will be in a program that focuses on fun, participation and basic skill development. .
Lessons are led by NCCP-certified professional coaches, who maybe assisted by trained Program Assistants. Our coaches are very focused on proper technique and will devote time to the details of skating, to develop skaters' agility, balance and control.
The small group setting allows skaters to progress at their own rate and coaches make sessions active using teaching aids, music and a wide variety of activities that create a fun environment and promote learning.
We recommend that all NEW Skaters wear a CSA-approved hockey helmet. Participants must purchase their own skates (no rentals available) and must wear gloves during the duration of the class.
Adult Figure Skating Class offers opportunities for skaters to develop fundamental figure skating skills in the areas like free skate, skating skills, ice dance and artistic skating. Skaters must be able to do forward and backward inside and outside edges confidently and are able to do forward and backward crosscuts. Skaters must have at least started 1 foot 3-turns and 2-foot spins. Skaters also have the opportunity to take Skate Canada Tests through a nationally standardized testing system.
