Adult Skate at SMFSC

 

Adult Skate at SMFSC offers a welcoming, supportive environment for skaters aged 16 and older. Whether you are stepping onto the ice for the first time or building on existing skills, our programs are designed to help you progress with confidence at your own pace.

All sessions are led by NCCP-certified professional coaches in a positive group setting focused on skill development, participation, and enjoyment.


Programs

Adult Learn to Skate

This program is designed for adult beginners who are new to skating or still developing basic skills.

Skaters will build confidence and learn fundamental skating skills including balance, forward and backward movement, stopping, and basic control.

Program Features:
  • Small-group instruction
  • Supportive, beginner-friendly environment
  • Focus on comfort, confidence, and foundational skills
  • Active sessions supported by music and structured activities

Equipment Required:

  • CSA-approved hockey helmet (recommended for all new skaters)
  • Properly fitted skates (no rentals available)
  • Gloves (recommended for safety and comfort)

Adult Figure Skating

This program is designed for skaters who already have basic skating ability and want to develop figure skating skills further.

Skaters will work on:
  • Edges and turns (inside/outside, forward/backward)
  • Crosscuts and skating control
  • Introductory spins and turns (e.g., 3-turns, two-foot spins)
  • Foundations of free skate, dance, and artistic skating

Skaters may also choose to participate in Skate Canada testing through a nationally standardized assessment system.


2025/2026 Adult Skate Schedule

All programs are held at Meadowvale Four Rinks (Rink 3), unless otherwise stated.

A 10% discount applies when all three sessions are registered together in a single transaction.

Fees & Registration

In addition to session fees, participants are responsible for applicable Skate Canada membership and non-resident fees (where applicable).

A 10% discount applies when all three sessions are registered together in a single transaction.

All registration and payments are completed online by credit card. Payment options include full payment or instalments, in accordance with club registration policies.
