Club Guidelines
Streetsville Meadowvale Figure Skating Club (SMFSC)
Purpose
The following guidelines are intended to support a safe, respectful, and well-organized environment for all members, skaters, coaches, and families.
These guidelines are not formal bylaws or policies; however, they represent expected standards of behaviour and operation within SMFSC. All members are expected to adhere to them while participating in club activities.
The Club may update these guidelines from time to time to reflect operational needs.
Change Room Allocation
- Change rooms are assigned by club staff or based on rink availability.
- Skaters must use their assigned change room.
- Access may be limited for safety and supervision purposes.
- Parents must follow posted rink rules.
Dressing Room Assignments
- Room 14 – Families: Parents may enter to assist their child.
- Room 15 – Girls Only: No parents allowed.
- Room 16 – Girls & Female Parents Only: No male parents allowed.
- Room 17 – Boys Only: No female parents allowed.
Please respect these assignments at all times.
Cell Phones & Portable Electronic Devices
- Cell phones and portable electronic devices (PEDs) are not permitted in change rooms at any time.
- This is to protect the privacy and comfort of all skaters.
- During on-ice sessions, phones must be silenced and stored unless used for coaching or club-approved purposes.
- No unauthorized photography or video recording is permitted in restricted areas.
- Devices are permitted in the lobby area only.
- Any use of devices in change rooms may result in the device being turned off and follow-up with the family/guardian and coach.
- Members must also follow all posted City of Mississauga rink signage regarding electronic device use.
Respectful Behaviour Toward Staff
- SMFSC is committed to maintaining a respectful and welcoming environment for all coaches, staff, volunteers, and members.
- We ask that all interactions with staff and volunteers remain respectful and appropriate at all times.
- Aggressive, abusive, or disrespectful behaviour will not be tolerated.
- If concerns arise, they should be shared through the appropriate club communication channels so they can be addressed properly.
- The Club may take action if behaviour does not align with these expectations.
Sickness Policy
- During flu season, and for the comfort of all skaters and coaches, SMFSC recommends keeping skaters home if they are not feeling well.
- Attendance is ultimately at the discretion of the parent or guardian.
Inclement Weather Policy
- SMFSC sessions run as scheduled during inclement weather.
- Sessions are only cancelled if the City of Mississauga closes its facilities (including Meadowvale 4 Rinks).
- If a closure occurs, the Club will post updates on the website and send an email to members.
- Members are responsible for ensuring they are subscribed to all club email lists through their online profile.
General Expectations & Respectful Behaviour
- Members are expected to act respectfully toward coaches, staff, volunteers, and other skaters.
- We ask that all interactions remain respectful and appropriate at all times.
- Aggressive, abusive, or disrespectful behaviour will not be tolerated.
- All rink and facility rules must be followed at all times.
- Concerns should be raised through appropriate club communication channels so they can be addressed properly.
- The Club may address behaviour that does not align with these expectations.
